Haribo Tangfastics Chamallows Review

$

0

Whilst in Asda recently I spotted these new Tangfastics flavoured Chamallows. I love regular Haribo Chamallows, but was intrigued by how they would taste with a sour coating...

Turns out they were extremely moreish...I couldn't get enough of them! The sour coating is the same one used in Haribo Tangfastics jellies, and made them even more addictive than regular marshmallows. I will admit, I ate a few too many at once!

Overall, these Tangfastics Chamallows are extremely moreish and I'd highly recommend giving them a try if you like the softness of marshmallows and the sour tang of Tangfastics. They're a great match!

RATING: 8.5 out of 10.

Price: £1 at Asda.

Cadbury Roses Pots of Joy Hazel Whirl Review

$

0

I first mentioned these Hazel Whirl Pots of Joy in a Spotted In Shops feature and initially wasnt too fussed on trying them. But as I saw them discounted in the Co-Op recently I thought "why not give them a (hazel) whirl?" (har har). I'm not usually a fan of hazelnut desserts or yoghurts, so wasn't expecting to love these from the get-go.

Like all Pots of Joy they contain a layer made with melted Cadbury chocolate, as well as hazelnut fondant and a centre of chopped hazelnuts.

Like the other Pots of Joy they also come in dinky little pots, which I find rather frustrating as once you've eaten one you immediately want to eat the next! Anyone who believes in "portion control" is kidding themselves ;)

I didn't really enjoy them to be honest. The smooth chocolate layer was nice, and they had a decent amount of chopped hazelnuts, but the whole thing turned into a kind of gloopy mess and the hazelnut flavour wasn't strong enough for my liking. If you imagine these taste anything like Nutella you'd be wrong...the flavour is weaker and more artificial. I think they'd be much nicer with a proper gianduja praline centre, and maybe a layer of caramel too.

Overall, these desserts aren't bad but they're not something I would buy again. I can't see them lasting in shops for long and predict Cadbury will be launching a Daim Pots of Joy before long...just a hunch!

Glamour Puds: Treacle Sponge & Passionfruit Chiffon Pie (Gluten, Dairy & Soya Free) Review

$

Whilst in Tesco recently I spotted these new Gluten Free puds from Glamour Puds. I'd heard about them on Twitter recently and that Tesco were threatening to de-list them, so I grabbed some whilst I still could. I prefer gluten-free products as I am somewhat gluten-sensitive and always love to see how they compare to gluten-containing products. As well as being gluten-free, these ones are also soya and dairy free.

Treacle Sponge:

The first pud I tried was this Treacle Sponge. It was rather small compared to some treacle sponges I've tried before, but still the perfect size for one person. Once I microwaved it it developed a lovely sweet aroma and smelled no different to a regular treacle pudding. I couldn't just eat it by itself so I made some custard to go with it!

It tasted delicious; the sponge was very rich and had a lovely buttery treacle flavour. The extra treacle on top added to the luxurious taste, and being honest I couldn't tell the difference between this and a regular "gluten" treacle sponge. The custard of course was the perfect acompaninment and enhanced the experience even more!

Overall, this is a delicious gluten-free dessert, and best of all you would never tell it's gluten-free! My only complaint is that I'd have liked more treacle on top of the sponge...although I suppose it's a good excuse to add some extra of your own!

RATING: 8 out of 10.

Passionfruit Chiffon Pie:

Next up I tried this Passionfruit Chiffon Pie...yes, right after trying the Treacle Sponge! My justification for this is that the puds were rather small...or maybe I just have a big mouth! The pie consists of shortcrust pastry with a passionfruit mousse filling, and is gluten, dairy & soya free. If you're wondering what a chiffon pie is there's a blurb on the pack which explains: "Chiffon pies are absolutely wonderful, rather like elegant Victorian ladies, often quivery or trembly, always delicate, but with a sound, well bred constitution."

Elegant or not...I decided to go straight in with a spoon and break it into pieces...but only so I could eat it delicately and elegantly, of course!

Whilst I enjoyed the zingy fresh passionfruit flavour, I have to say I wasn't enamoured with the pastry. I think because it's dairy free and they used vegetable margraine, which I'm not a huge fan of. I think coconut oil might've been a better choice, taste-wise. Despite that though I still very much enjoyed the pie as the filling was delicious!

Overall, despite my issues with the pastry I still thought this was a very good dessert and would recommend it to anyone avoiding gluten, dairy or soya!

RATING: 7.5 out of 10.

Overall, I'm very impressed with Glamour Puds. Whilst many free-from desserts are inferior versions of the real thing these stand on their own as tasty desserts and don't compromise on taste. I do think the Chiffon Pie would be nicer with an alternative fat for the pastry, but I realize it's difficult to make a dessert that is not only gluten free, but dairy and soya free too. Kudos to Glamour Puds for their efforts...I just wish I'd picked up the chocolate sponge pudding now!

I hope they stick around in Tesco stores and don't get de-listed, because there needs to be more variety of desserts for those who cannot eat gluten, dairy or soya (plus, according to research one in three UK households have food allergies, so there is clearly a market for such products!).

Snickers More Choc - Limited Edition 2014 - Review

$

Mars UK recently announced the launch of some "new" Snickers Limited Editions, although they're not really that new - Snickers More Caramel and Snickers More Nuts were first brought out in January 2013 - and were so popular with the British public that Mars have chosen to bring them back. This time they're joined by a newbie...Snickers More Choc.

This Snickers contains chocolate flavoured caramel as well as chocolate flavoured nougat, hence the name. When I opened the wrapper I have to say I was shocked by how small the bar was...this is not a real Snickers, it's more like a Milky Way! I'm not sure how Mars can justify reducing the size so much.

Overlooking that, I cut into the bar which revealed the chocolatey caramel and nougat centre.

Taking a bite, I have to say it did have a more intense chocolatey flavour than a regular Snickers. It was very sweet and rich, but I'm not sure I preferred it over regular Snickers as the extra chocolate flavour detracted from the fresh peanuts and sweet caramel somewhat. Still, it was a nice enough Snickers bar and very satisfying.

Overall, as great as it is to see Mars trying something new, I think they could have done a lot better with these Snickers Limited Editions. More caramel and nuts is always a good thing, but why not change them up a bit by adding different flavourings, like orange, mint, or even coffee? Personally I'd find that a lot more exciting!

Nestlé Quality Street My Orange Bar (new for Xmas 2014!) - Review

$

0

Quality Street "My Purple Bar" is a Christmas confectionery staple, and last year Nestlé also launched the "My Green Triangle Bar" to go alongside it. This year a "My Orange Bar" is joining the range...hurrah! Or maybe not...because this is not the much-loved Quality Street Orange Cream, but the inferior Orange Crunch. Curiously, when I saw these in Morrisons there were no "My Purple Bars" alongside them although there were some Green Triangle Bars. Perhaps Cadbury finally won their lawsuit to stop Nestlé using the colour purple? If anyone spots the purple bars in shops please let me know in the comments!

The bar is described as "crunchy pieces in an orange flavoured centre" and the back of the pack elaborates: "Milk chocolate with an orange flavoured filling and orange flavoured crunch pieces (9%). The chocolate contains 14% milk solids as well as vegetable fat.

The bar is split into 4 chunks shaped like the Orange Crunch from Quality Street.

The chocolate had a pleasant smell, but I couldn't detect any orange. I cut into one of the chunks to reveal the truffle centre and orange crunch pieces.

The chocolate tasted nice enough; it's standard Nestlé chocolate so it's milky and sweet. The filling was smooth and melt-in-the mouth, with a pleasant orangey flavour, and the orange pieces added a nice crunch. The overall orange flavour is pleasant, but a little tame, and certainly not as full-on as a Terry's Chocolate Orange.

Overall, this is a nice bar of chocolate if you like the Orange Crunch from Quality Street, but I would've preferred a bar of Orange Cremes instead! I'm sure I'm not alone?!

RATING: 7.5 out of 10.

Let me know in the comments which you prefer - Orange Crunch or Orange Creme?!

Price: 65p at Morrisons, Superdrug and Boots.

Did you know?: Quality Street have done many different flavours over the years, including Gooseberry Cream, Apricot Delight, Fruits of the Forest Cream, Montelimar Nougat, Hazelnut Cracknell, Peanut Cracknell, Almond Octagon... and the love-it-or-hate-it Coffee Cream!

Starburst Trick or Treat? Scare Edition (Halloween 2014) - Review

$

Halloween products are finally starting to appear on shelves, although oddly only after the new Christmas chocolates. Anyone else find this a bit odd? Anyway, these new Halloween Starburst are exclusive to Tesco, and they're a "scare edition". They're called "Trick or treat?", as you don't know whether you'll bite into a sour or sweet fruit chew. Scary indeed!

The flavours are "sweet or sour orange ghoul", "sweet or sour raging raspberry" and "sweet or sour evil apple". There's a blurb on the pack that says "They blindfold fruit treats and play juicy tricks on them"...which sounds a little dodgy to me, but I'm sure it's meant to be innocent enough!

Tipping out the bag, the chews all had brightly coloured wrappers with "Trick or Treat?" printed on. I like the colours, they're very fitting for Halloween!

Oddly there were 4 different coloured wrappers as opposed to the three flavours mentioned on the packet...maybe this is a trick?!

The sweets were all very tasty and moreish, but I much preferred the sour ones, although they were a little tame in their sourness levels. The sweet ones were the same as regular Starburst and very pleasant. Turns out these sweets aren't that scary after all!

Overall, this is a nice limited edition from Starburst and would be perfect to give to Trick or Treaters. I doubt anyone will be scared by them though!

New! Peanut Hottie Peanut Butter & Chocolate Hot Drink Review

Many thanks to Peanut Hottie for sending me the latest incarnation of their peanut hot drink to review...the new Chocolate Peanut Hottie! When Peanut Hottie first launched a year ago I predicted they would eventually bring out a chocolate version, because as everyone knows chocolate and peanut butter make the perfect combination!

The drink is described as "Peanut butter and chocolate flavour instant hot beverage made with real peanuts". You can use 4 teaspoons (or more depending on your peanut butter cravings!) and mix with hot water to produce a frothy, creamy drink.

I was a bit greedy and used 5 teaspoons since I couldn't resist making it extra peanutty!

The drink was very thick and rich, with a strong peanut flavour, and the chocolate added extra richness making it feel very substantial and filling. It tasted very moreish, and even nicer than the regular Peanut Hottie in my opinion. Whether you prefer one or the other will depend on if you like peanut butter by itself or with chocolate I guess! Personally I love both but would go for this variety in the Winter months.

Overall, this is a great new flavour from Peanut Hottie and will no doubt be very popular. I look forward to seeing more new flavours from Peanut Hottie in the future!

Thorntons Special Toffee & Fabulous Fudge Milk Chocolate Blocks - Review

$

0

Thorntons recently announced the launch of their own chocolate blocks to compete with the likes of Dairy Milk and Galaxy, and by chance I happened to spot some whilst in WH Smiths the other day. The wrappers looked similar to Galaxy bars so I had to look twice!

Both contain Thorntons most well-known products: Special Toffee and Fabulous Fudge. It must have been a no-brainer to put them in bar form, after all most confectionery companies *cough* Mondelez! *cough* are putting their brands into chocolate bars these days.

Thorntons Special Toffee Milk Chocolate:

This is described as "Toffee flavour milk chocolate with toffee pieces" and contains 30% cocoa solids. Opening the wrapper I was salivating...the chocolate had a lovely burnt toffee aroma that was very strong. The bar is split into blocks with cogs printed on, matching the "chocolate factory" themed wrapper, which I think is quite a fun design.

The chocolate was very nice; smooth and milky with a nice cocoa flavour. The toffee flavour added a burnt sugar edge to it, which is quite unique as far as milk chocolates go. The toffee pieces added a further buttery, burnt sugar crunch, but there weren't enough for my liking. Still, it was a very moreish combination and reminded me of Dairy Milk with Daim.

Overall, this is a very sweet bar, but very tasty!

RATING: 8 out of 10.

Thorntons Fabulous Fudge Milk Chocolate:

Out of the two bars this was the one that excited me most...it's described as "Fudge flavour milk chocolate with fudge pieces" and contains 30% cocoa solids.

Like the Special Toffee Bar it comes with cogs imprinted on the blocks, plus a smaller and larger block on each corner.

The fudge smell was very inviting...I couldn't wait to get stuck in!

The fudge pieces were very visible and luckily there seemed to be more of them than in the Special Toffee bar. Taste-wise the chocolate was lovely; very smooth with a creamy fudge flavour, and the fudge balls adding a soft buttery chew with each bite. It didn't take me long to wolf down most of the bar...it was very moreish!

RATING: 8.5 out of 10.

Overall:
These new bars from Thorntons are very nice indeed, both combine good quality milk chocolate with buttery toffee flavours very well. Of course, they're probably only suitable for the very sweet-toothed among us! I do hope Thorntons consider doing a Liquorice Toffee block in future...now that would be tasty and unique!

Price: £1 per 100g bar at WH Smith (RRP £1.59).
Suitable for vegetarians?: Yes.
Allergy Information: Both contain milk & soya. Both may contain nuts.

Cadbury Marvellous Mix-Ups Banana Sour Fudge Dessert - Review

$

Cadbury are churning out a lot of odd flavour combinations recently...first they did a Cherry Cola Fizz dessert and now this - Banana Sour Fudge! I have to wonder if anyone actually likes these odd flavours they keep bringing out; sure, they're interesting and novel, but the novelty must wear off eventually. I guess that's why they're just limited editions...

This dessert is described as "Smooth & creamy dessert made with melted Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate with a side of milk chocolate coated butter candy, banana flavour candied fudge pieces & raspberry flavour sour candy balls". A weird mis-mash of flavours if ever there was one! So how did it taste...?

Well, firstly the chocolate dessert itself was very nice, it's pretty much the same as Dairy Milk Pots of Joy and the smoothness and creaminess is very welcoming. Adding the goodies and mixing them in produced an interesting taste sensation...lots of artificial fruit flavours; sourness from the raspberry, artificial banana flavour, a little butteriness from the fudge and butter candy, and some crunchy textures going on too. It really is a party in your mouth...and quite a fun one, but not something I would want to eat regularly.

Overall, this is definitely an interesting combination from Cadbury, and kudos to them for trying something so out there. If you're a fan of banana I wouldn't rush to try this but if you like mad combinations this is definitely for you. Now, if only they would actually do something with peanut butter in...everyone is waiting, Cadbury!

Some new products I've seen whilst out and about recently...enjoy!

Swizzel's Matlow Drumstick Cake: Everyone of a certain age will remember Drumstick Lollies from childhood...and now you can get them in cake form! This cake contains a Drumstick flavoured topping and filling, and is of course shaped and iced like a Drumstick lolly. Spotted at Asda.

Asda's Triple Chocolate Giant Doughnut Cake: I don't think this made from real doughnut, but it looks like a pretty cool cake!

There's also a Toffee Fudge variety!

Mars Cake Bars: If it weren't for the recent news articles raving about these I would've never guessed they were new...I thought Mars had always done cake bars?! Spotted at Asda.

Asda Jazzie Mini Cake Bites: Continuing with the retro sweets theme Asda are doing these new "Jazzie" cake bites. If you don't know what Jazzie's are, they're basically a British retro sweet made up of vegetable fat with hundreds and thousands sprinkled on top. They come in both white and brown varieties and are meant to taste like chocolate.

Brompton House Muesli Tart: I'll refrain from any Great British Bake Off style innuendos here (although here's a list of the 28 best ones), but needless to say this "delicious and moist""premium" muesli tart sounds very lovely! Spotted at Asda.

Cadbury Sticky Puds Milk Chocolate: Cadbury's have launched a lot of new products recently and the latest to join their portfolio is "Sticky Puds", which are "indulgent chocolate sponge puddings smothered with a Cadbury milk chocolate sauce". Spotted at Asda.

Cadbury Fudge Sticky Puds: There's also a Fudge variety, described as "indulgent chocolate fudge sponge puddings smothered with a sticky fudge sauce". Spotted at Asda.

Toffee Crisp Choccy Road Biscuits: It's not often we get new Toffee Crisp varieties from Nestlé, but recently they've laucnhed not only a Toffee Crisp Sharing Block& Toffee Crisp Cereal, but these "Choccy Road" biscuits too. They're basically Rocky Road meets Toffee Crisp and contain marshmallow, chocolate, biscuit and toffee. Spotted at Asda.

Toffee Crisp Bitesize: Asda had a huge display of these Toffee Crisp Bitesize for a pound, as well as Toffee Crisp Multipacks, Toffee Crisp Biscuits and Peanut Lion Multipacks. Seems like Nestlé are taking over supermarkets with the colour orange!

Nestlé Munchies Ice Cream Bars: Nestlé have also revamped their ice cream range and made Munchies ice cream bars a more premium product. Spotted at Asda.

Nestlé Lion Ice Cream Bars: They've also added Lion Ice Cream Bars to the range - these used to be in the £1 discount range. Spotted at Asda.

Asda Mojito Roulade: It seems a bit late for a Mojito flavour iced dessert...maybe Asda should have launched this at the start of Summer!

Hartley's Monster Jelly: Rebranding jelly to fit with Halloween is a canny move from Hartley's since it goes perfectly with "Ice Scream". Spotted at Asda.

Also available in Fangtastic Strawberry...

Mr Kipling Chocolate & Slime Slices: All the usual Halloween cake slices are out in stores (Fiendish Fancies etc) but the only new ones to join them this year appear to be these green Chocolate & Slime slices. Spotted at Tesco.

The Collective Spiced Pumpkin Yoghurt: Usually there's very few exciting new products for Halloween, but The Collective Dairy are attempting to change that with their unique limited edition "Spiced Pumpkin live gourmet yoghurt". I must admit the "live" part does scare me a bit! Spotted at Sainsbury's.

Maynards Spooky Treats & Sour Tricks: These jellies used to be made by "The Natural Confectionery Company", but Mondelez have wisely rebranded them as Maynards since it's more well-known in the UK. Spotted at local department store.

The Chocolate Smiths Bewitching Bizarre Chocolate: Hand-made in Northumberland, this limited edition Halloween bar from The Chocolate Smiths consists of belgian milk chocolate with delicately spiced pumpkin. Spotted at local department store.

The Chocolate Smiths Boo'Nanza Bizarre with Sour Apple: Even more exciting, this bar contains white chocolate with a gooey sour apple centre, and shards of sweet toasted caramel. Now that's a unique combination! "Toffee apple, but edgier", as it says. Spotted at local department store.

Bahlsen Pick Up! Black 'N White: Regular Bahlsen Pick Up! biscuits are awesome, but this version containing chocolate flavour biscuits and white chocolate filling sounds even more so! Spotted at Sainsbury's.

Tunnock's Dark Chocolate Coated Caramel Wafer Biscuits: Tunnock's are now doing a dark chocolate version of their legendary Caramel Wafers. Personally I think white chocolate would've been more exciting! Spotted at Sainsbury's.

Snog Frozen Yogurt: Fancy a snog? Then head over to Snog's website www.ifancyasnog.com! These new frozen yogurts are made from organic fat-free yogurt and sweetened with Agave nectar. Spotted at Sainsbury's.

Terry's Chocolate Orange Doughnuts: Chocolate Orange seems to be taking over this year, it's now available in Minis, Segsations, Ice Cream, Pots of Joy...and now Doughnuts too! I wonder what's next, milkshake perhaps? Spotted at Tesco.

Philadelhpia Sensations Duo Cremoso Vine Ripened Tomato: These new Philadelphia Sensations Duo Cremoso are described as being "a breakthrough innovation" and contain a dual texture of creamy Philadelphia cream cheese with a whipped core. Spotted at Sainsbury's

Also available in Cracked Peppercorn...

Plus Garlic & Fine herbs.

GU Hot Chocolate - Salted Caramel & Chocolate: GU are branching out from puds to do these "thick, rich and velvety" luxury hot chocolates, and unlike regular hot chocolate they're refrigerated. I like the sound of the salted caramel version! Spotted at Waitrose.

Not content with a new hot chocolate range, there's also these new Hot White Chocolate Melting Middles from GU, which contain coconut and white chocolate. Yum! Spotted at Sainsbury's.

Plus they're doing these new Maple and Pecan Pies! Spotted at Sainsbury's.

Lindt have launched a new bar in their "Creation" range - Chocolate Cake. It contains a fine dark chocolate truffle and a "melting heart"...which is presumably some kind of ganache? Spotted at Waitrose.

I also saw this Lindt Creation Citron Frappe at Waitrose, which looks like it's imported.

Likewise, this Lindt Excellence Noir with cacao nibs.

Ambrosia Devon Custard Puds: This new twinpot range from Ambrosia consists of a side of custard and a side of pudding that can be microwaved. This one contains crumble clusters and summer fruit compote. Spotted at Asda.

Also available in Sticky Toffee Crunch...I want to try this one!

Plus the classic Apple Crumble.

Nestlé Carnation Chocolate Filling: Nestlé are doing a new "chocolate filling and topping" in their Carnation range. I have no idea what this consists of but presumably it's similar to their caramel filling made with condensed milk. Spotted at Asda.

McVitie's Strawberry Fruit Rolls: McVitie's have made the legendary Fig Rolls (which were apparently invented in ancient Egypt!) for years, but now they're trying to appeal to a younger audience with this strawberry variety. Spotted at Asda.

Also available in apple.

Fruit Shoot Squeezy Less Sugar Jam: Fruit Shoot are now doing their own range of jams, in Orange (shouldnt that be marmalade?!), Apple & Blackcurrant and Strawberry & Summer Fruits flavours. They contain 30% less sugar than regular jams. Spotted at Tesco.

Tesco Custard & Bourbon Cream Spreads: Grocery Gems has already covered these but I just had to mention them! All I'll say is: custard and bourbon creams are awesome, so I'm sure they're even nicer in spreadable form. I can't wait to try them!

There's also a Cookies and Cream flavour!

OO Drinks Strawberry & Rhubarb: This natural flavoured soda contains "oogaave" syrup and comes in various flavours. Spotted at local department store.

Teapigs Matcha Green Tea Drinks: These new drinks from Teapigs contain natural flavanols and come in flavours such as Elderflower and Grapefruit. Hopefully they don't taste like dirt, as most green tea seems to! Spotted at local department store.

And lastly, I had to include these the name made me chuckle in the shop...Sweetie Monkey iFoams! Foam...Phone...get it? Maybe I'm just sad haha! Spotted at Tk Maxx.

I hope you've all enjoyed this new products Monsterpost! If you spot any new snacks please don't hesitate to contact me via Twitter or Email!

Tesco Finest Lemon, Belgian White Chocolate & Lavender Desserts

Whilst I was at Tesco one Sunday an announcement came on the speakers about reduced items in the chiller aisle. So of course, everyone in the store practically ran there to pick up some bargains, and in the mad rush I just about managed to snatch these "Lemon, Belgian White Chocolate & Lavender" desserts before anyone else got them!

The desserts come in plastic pots with a layer of white chocolate dessert at the bottom and a fruity lemon compote on top.

I'm mostly going by memory but what I remember most is that they were gorgeous! The white chocolate dessert was exceptionally creamy; with fresh double cream and white chocolate. It was similar to Cadbury Pots of Joy White Chocolate but much better quality. The lemon compote on top was very fresh and zingy, complimenting the white chocolate layer beautifully. The only issue is that I couldn't really taste any lavender. If it was there it must have been very mild!

Overall, these are delicious desserts, although I'm not sure if Tesco still sell them or not. I've seen similar ones with Senga Strawberry which may have replaced them. If anyone knows or has tried either one please let me know in the comments!

RATING: 8.5 out of 10.

Ülker Pistachio White Chocolate Bar Review (Turkish)

Whilst passing a local Turkish shop recently I just had to purchase this bar. I love white chocolate...but I've never seen one that contains pistachio nuts before! Turkish foods are of course known for adding pistachios to absolutely everything, and I've tried the Dark Chocolate version of this before which wasn't really my thing, but this sounded a bit more up my street.

I'm glad I bought it because it was delicious! The white chocolate was very creamy, somewhat richer than Milkybar with the right balance of sweet and milky, and the pistachios added a moreish, savoury nuttiness which made me want to gobble the whole thing (and I very nearly did...oops!)

Overall, this is a seriously moreish bar; if you have any Turkish stores nearby I would highly recommend trying it!

Some new Christmas goodies spotted in shops recently...I predict these are just the tip of the iceberg!

Nestlé Aero Milk Chocolate Bubble: At first I thought this was an Easter Egg! It's a similar concept...a hollow milk chocolate "bubble" containing milk chocolate Aero Bubbles. I wonder if this idea will take off? Spotted at Morrisons.

Toblerone Triangle Block: As cool as this looks I'll wait until the large white chocolate Toblerone's are reduced in price to get my Toblerone fix this year. Available in most supermarkets.

Guylian Caramel Belgian Seashells: Also new for Christmas this year are these Guylian caramel seashells. I'm not sure if they contain soft caramel or a caramel flavoured filling...if anyone's tried them please let me know! Spotted at Tesco & WH Smiths.

Also available in Crunchy Biscuit.

And in small boxes of Vanilla flavour (Poundland).

Plus mini boxes of Nestlé Dairy Box are available in Poundland.

As well small boxes of Paynes Just Brazils in Milk and Dark chocolate.

Cadbury Heroes welcome Wispa!: There was an uproar last Christmas when Cadbury added mini Toblerones to Heroes (let's be honest, they don't belong there...they're not even a Cadbury brand!), but thankfully they've seen the error of their ways and replaced them with mini Wispas instead. Hurrah! Spotted at local department store.

Bassett's Jelly Babies Tin: These tins would make the perfect gift for fans of Jelly Babies (and Doctor Who!). Spotted at local department store.

Liquorice Allsorts Bertie Bassett Tin: Or if you're more into Liquorice Allsorts there's these cool looking Bertie Bassett tins! Spotted at local department store.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Milk Chocolate Chunks: These are really nothing special and Cadbury have done them for years now...but still I think they look really cool in this festive milk carton box! Spotted at local department store.

Fudge Kitchen The Twelve Flavours of Indulgence: These "Gourmet Fudge Pearls" from Fudge Kitchen sound interesting. They're handmade and decorated fudges, dipped in chocolate and come in twelve different flavours. A perfect gift for anyone who loves fudge! Spotted at local department store.

Lindor Milk & White Chocolate Winter Edition: Lindt are doing a new Milk & White chocolate Lindor for Christmas this year. Spotted at Tesco & Morrisons.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Biscuits Tins: These are just the same Dairy Milk biscuits found in most supermarkets made by Burtons - nothing special unfortunately, so I don't know why they've been given their own tin. They could have at least put in some of the Caramel/Crunchie/Wispa varieties too! Spotted at Superdrug.

Cadbury Santa's Arctic Friends: These are a Christmas variation on Cadbury Animals biscuits. Spotted at B&M.

Nestlé After Eight Finest Mint Selection: This selection first made an appearance in the 90's (I remember trying them at school!), but in recent years it's made a comeback. Contains milk, dark and white chocolate leaves with a mint creme filling. Spotted at B&M.

Nestlé Milkybar Santa and Friends: These hollow Milkybar figures are rather thin and flimsy, and always seem to be squashed! Maybe try being les stingy and using thicker chocolate next time, eh Nestlé? Spotted at B&M.

Nestlé Munchies Supertube: Large tubes of chocolate are the in thing this year, and this one contains 3 x 100g bags of Munchies. A shame they didn't do mega sized Munchies instead! Spotted at Morrisons.

Nestlé Quality Street Luxury Tin: This gold tin looks much fancier than the regular Quality Street one! Now if only they would bring back the peanut crackle chocolates! Spotted at B&M.

There's also this "wreath" version. Spotted at local department store.

Terry's Chocolate Orange Minis Milk & Exploding Candy: Mondelez are pushing the Chocolate Orange brand to the max this year and Exploding Candy is the new variety to join the Minis range. Spotted at B&M but available pretty much everywhere for about £1.

Thorntons Classics Winter Favourites: This new seasonal edition of Thorntons Classics contains 3 new chocolate flavours. I forget what they are exactly but I seem to recall it was something like cranberry and orange cream, a new flavour of Turkish delight, and a new fruit and nut truffle. Spotted at WH Smith.

Thorntons Puddings from Classics: Thorntons are doing a special box of Puddings chocolates from their Classics range for Christmas too. Spotted at Superdrug.

Thorntons Alpini Contintental Pralines: These aren't new but the format is...they now come in boxes similar in size to Lindor. Spotted at Morrisons.

Also available in Viennese.

Nestlé Quality Street Giant Strawberry Dream: Sadly this isn't a giant strawberry cream...it just contains lots of regular strawberry creams. It's joining the Giant Toffee Finger and Giant Purple One from last year. There doesn't appear to be a large Fudge version this year (see my review of it from last year HERE). Spotted at Superdrug.

Asda Extra Special Salted Caramel Sponge Pudding: The supermarkets are getting creative with their puds for Christmas this year...and what could be better than salted caramel?!

Nestlé Kitkat Chunky Collection: Unfortunately this isn't a mega sized Kitkat Chunky but a box of three different Kitkat Chunky flavours. Spotted at Superdrug.

Nestlé Smarties Giant Tubes: Continuing the theme of giant snacks are these huge Smarties tubes. I would have loved these as a kid! Spotted at Superdrug.

Ferrero Golden Gallery: This Ferrero collection contains a selection of nougats, Rocher, white and dark chocolates. Sounds delicious! Spotted at Superdrug.

Nestlé Pink Smarties Tubes: These tubes of pink Smarties have been around a while and seem to come and go, but they have returned once again! Personally I wish they'd bring back the orange flavoured ones...they were the best! Spotted at Asda.

Kinder Mini Figures: These cute mini chocolate figures will no doubt be very popular with kids. Spotted at Asda.

Monty Bojangles Merry Berry Crumble! I had to look twice when I saw these...at first I thought it said Mary Berry Crumble! I'm sure this is their intention! Spotted at Superdrug.

Monty Bojangles Bucks Fizz Fandango: Bucks Fizz truffles sound a little sickly to me..I can't see these being poplar. Spotted at Superdrug.

Werther's Original Golden Mix: The perfect gift for any beloved grandparent! A selection of all the different Werther's Original varieties such as eclairs, fudges etc. Spotted at local department store.

And if you have very hungry grandparents, there's this mega bag!

One Direction Fruit Jellies: The perfect gift for teenage girls all over the world, no doubt.

Ferrero Rocher Gold Tin: If the regular boxes of Ferrero Rocher just arent posh enough for you, theres always this gold tin!

Giant Lindor Balls! Available in milk or white chocolate. Spotted at Waitrose.

Ultimate English Cranberry Fudge: Ultimate English are a Harrogate based company, and I've been meaning to review their fudge for a while now (stay tuned!). This festive Cranberry variety is available from B&M and having tried some of their other fudge flavours I can guarantee it's good stuff!

Nestlé After Eight Yogurts: These have been out a while but I just had to mention them as they seem like the perfect yogurt to eat over the Winter months! Spotted at Asda.

Baileys Truffle Bar: This isn't really new, it's just been re-packaged with a plastic wrapper. It makes a perfect gift though for anyone who likes Baileys! Spotted at B&M.

Lindor Dark Orange Limited Edition: WH Smith stocked this limited edition last year and it's made a return again! It seems to only be available from WH Smith so if you're a fan of orange chocolate head there to stock up.

Pergale Cherry & Berry Collection: Poundland have several new Pergale selection boxes just in time for Christmas, for that cheap "obligatory" gift we all have to give to someone!

Also available in Dark Chocolate...

And Marzipan (yuck!)

Also perfect for a cheap gift are these Roses, Quality Street & Celebrations Mini Boxes! I wonder how many sweets each one contains? Spotted at Superdrug.

If you fancy some Quality Street "on the go" there's also this new Quality Street Sharing Bag. Spotted at Asda.

Toblerone Fruit & Nut (small bar): And if you like Fruit and Nut Toblerone it's now available in a small bars. Personally I think part of the charm of Toblerone is the huge triangular chunks that nearly break your teeth, so won't be buying this. Spotted at B&M.

Marks & Spencer Chocolate Orange Twigs: And now we move onto Marks & Spencer's Christmas goodies. They have a lot of new stuff out but unfortunately I was asked not to take pictures (store policy apparently!). Luckily I managed to get these snaps before I was thwarted! First up are these Orange Chocolate Twigs - milk chocolate with pieces of crunchy orange, similar to Matchmakers. I'm sure they're much nicer!

Also available in Mint.

For anyone who hates sprouts Marks & Spencer have the solution! Solid Milk Chocolate Sprouts...grown in the North Pole!

As well as these Chocolate Clementines...selected by reindeer!

Chocolate Puddings: Chocolates with Christmas Pudding flavoured truffle...at last, I've been waiting for someone to make actual Christmas Pudding flavoured chocolates for ages!

Mini Yeti Gingerbread Men: A cool new take on gingerbread men...these ones are covered with dessicated coconut!

Dark Chocolate Jazzies (made without dairy): These are a more adult version of Jazzies made with dark chocolate, and as a bonus they're dairy-free for those who are dairy-intolerant!

Marks and Spencer Winter Fruit Chutney: I'm not really a fan of chutney, but this sounds intriguing.

Crystallized Stem Ginger Curd: Fans of ginger will no doubt love this!

Mulled Berry Conserve: Not my sort of thing but I'm sure many will love it!

Gluten Free Christmas Pudding: M&S are great at gluten-free food and this year have made a normal sized Christmas pudding so celiacs don't feel left out. Hurrah! No mean-spirited dinky little ones like most supermarkets do!

They're also doing an Alcohol Free one for those who don't like it in their pud (this includes me). Hurrah again!

Plus a Cranberry and Clementine variety...

As well as Black Forest!...surely this is a first?

This Marks & Spencer Dulce De Leche Chocolate slab really intrigues me...it's a blend of milk and white chocolate mixed with dulce de leche caramel, and judging by the display it appears to be a caramel chocolate in a similar vein to "blond chocolate"Valrhona Dulcey (or a luxury Caramac, if you will!)

The Chocolatier's Box: I don't think I've ever seen blue chocolates before! I'd really love to try this box...

Italian Milk Chocolate Coffee Hazelnuts: Coffee and hazelnuts sounds like the perfect combination!

Sparkling Wine Truffles: Not sure I fancy these...

Italian Dessert Chocolate Assortment: These however sound more up my street!

The Gastronomic Collection: Not sure what flavours these contain...

The Mixologists Box: Flavours from around the world...sounds interesting! Will someone please get me some to...er..."review"? ;)

Christmas Candles Dessert: This elabroate dessert consists of "Brown sugar meringue roulades filled with cinnamon and salted caramel, finished with belgian chocolate ganache and chocolate flames". Sounds like a special treat!

Well, that's it for now...I expect there'll be many more Christmas snacks to come in the following months though! If you've spotted any new stuff do let me know via Comments, Twitter or Email!

*It's back!* Terry's Chocolate Orange Toffee Crunch (Guest Review by William)

Hello you lovely lot! I haven't been here for such a long time and this is because I've been really busy working on a new blog design for my blog which also has a new name. I haven't finished working on my blog yet so it's going to look a little weird for quite a while but I'm hoping it'll done before Halloween! Anyways, on with the review...finally after many years, Mondelēz have decided to bring back the Terry's Chocolate Orange Toffee Crunch.

It's been available in the Segsations selection for years but I'm so glad it's back in it's traditional chocolate orange format! I'm hoping that maybe next year for Christmas, Mondelēz launch miniature versions of these, just like they did with the Exploding Candy orange this year (I'll be reviewing those soon).

The packaging has a pleasant design yet it's not very eye-catching on the shelf. You can't distinguish between the Terry's Chocolate Oranges unless you look a little closer at the packaging and this has been a major problem for me since Kraft redesigned the packaging back in 2011.

Taste-wise, this orange is very sweet compared to how I remember it but the flavour of the toffee caramel pieces has remained the same and that's rather comforting. It's a bit like a Daim chocolate orange but with a more intense toffee flavour. The chocolate seems to be quite oily and I've noticed this with all Mondelēz chocolate products but I don't know whether it's just me that thinks that?

The texture is just how it used to be, the crunchiness of the toffee caramel pieces and the creaminess of the chocolate brings together two totally different textures that work so well. The texture is very similar to Cadbury Dairy Milk with Crunchie Bits and Cadbury Dairy Milk Daim, and this is another reason why I love this orange so much.

Overall, I think that the Terry's Chocolate Orange Toffee Crunch ball is potentially the best orange Terry's has ever created (in my opinion) and I'm sure many people who used to love this particular orange will be pleased to see it back on our shelves just in time for Christmas!

If you like this review and you'd like to see more posts from me head over to my blog www.verywilliam.blogspot.co.uk although I will still be writing guest reviews on here every now and then!

Some new stuff I've seen in Asda recently...I wouldn't usually feature supermarket own brands but they've done so many interesting dessert variations I just had to! Seems like chocolate orange and toffee flavours are very popular this year!

Chosen By You Chocolate Orange Gateau: this looks delicious!

Free From Mincemeat Crumble Squares: These Christmas squares sound very unique; they're gluten-free and contain crunchy shortcake biscuit with a sweet mincemeat topping. Well done Asda for doing something seasonal that's also gluten-free!

Lovely Bubbly Chocolate Frozen Mousse: I imagine this is like Aero in ice cream form.

Asda Chocolate Orange Ice Cream!: fans of chocolate orange will love this no doubt!

Salted Caramel Sponge Pudding!: it has to taste amazing...

Shloer Berry Punch: Not exclusive to Asda, but I noticed this Limited Edition Berry Punch Schloer there which I presume is for Christmas.

Plus these new Chocolate Flavour Oreo Ice Cream Cones.

As well as new Joy to the Swirled and Minter Wonderland Ben & Jerry's ice creams. I loved Minter Wonderland when they did it years ago so I'm really pleased this is back!

On the subject of mint, I also saw these cool After Eight Limited Edition Big Ben Collectibe Tins at Asda.

Sticky Toffee Gateau...combining that great British classic pud with gateau sounds like a wonderful idea!

Rocky Road Ice Cream: sounds unique!

Asda Chosen By You Chocolate Pie: an American classic, I believe?

Raspberry Ripple Pie: looks tasty!

Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Roll: A new take on the classic "Arctic Roll"...looks tasty!

Choc Fudge Brownie Cheesecake: Again, Asda are combining desserts here...brownies and cheesecake sounds like a fantastic combo!

Chocolate Praline Cheesecake: Hazelnut mousse, praline and cheesecake? I'm sold!

Choc Chip Muffin Cheesecake: Yet more dessert combining...this time muffin and cheesecake.

Tiramisu Cheesecake: Can't decide between tiramisu or cheesecake for dessert? Now you can have both in one!

Toffee Apple Cheesecake: A classic Autumnal flavour!

Chocolate Orange Proftiterole Cheesecake: More dessert combining...as if it wasn't enough to put profiteroles with cheesecake, Asda have added chocolate orange to the mix too!

Bakewell Crumble Tart: Everyone loves bakewell tart right?!

Key Lime Cheesecake: Yum!

Billionaires' Meringue Stack: Meringue, toffee cream, toffee sauce and truffles...sounds amazing!

Ice Cream Trifle: Trifle meets ice cream...intriguing!

Toffee Pecan Roulade: I'm sure Asda have done this before...

Baked Alaska: Really want to try this...

Apple and Berry Lattice Pie: a classc combination!

Toffee Apple Bake: I'm not sure what this is all about...looks like a toffee apple pasty!

Also available in Apple and Blackcurrant.

Forest Fruit Strudel: I haven't eaten strudel in years...

But this Apple and Custard variety might just tempt me!

Aunt Bessie's Toffee Apple Pie: I wouldn't usually buy apple pie, I'd rather make my own...but this toffee apple variety is enough to tempt me!

Special Apple Pie: with butter pastry and spiced apple filling...presumably the spices are what makes it special.

Chocolate Orange Sponge: Sounds delicious...I wonder what's with the chocolate orange trend at Asda this year?

Pepperoni Pizza Slices: Not sure how they manage to put pizza into pastries...I'm sure they just contain cheese, pepperoni and tomato!

Also available in Sausage and Bean...such a British combination!

Thorntons Mini Chocolate Caramel Cake Bites: Not sure how new these are but they sound delicious!

One Direction Singing Toothbrush: Terrible! When will the One Direction onslaught end?!

Muller Corner British Classics...available in Eton Mess and Apple Pie. You can't get more British than that!

Asda Chosen By You Favourite Desserts: in lemon meringue and black forest. Not sure if I'd prefer this or the Muller ones - they all sound nice!

Muller Light by Julien Macdonald: Nice design, if you like that sort of thing when eating yogurt...

Heidi Bouquest Milk & Tiramisu: Some Asda stores have started stocking a brand of chocolates from Heidi, a Swiss chocolate producer. There's many different varieties, look out for them in store!

Heidi Chocolate Tree: This chocolate tree from Heidi looks so cool...it contains florentines and chocolate buttons.

Hope everyone's enjoyed reading...please do let me know in the Comments if you've tried any of these products!

Naked 100% Coconut Water Review

$

When Naked Drinks contacted me to review their new Coconut Water I couldn't say no; I've become a little obsessed with coconut products recently since trying to reduce my sugar intake (see my glowing review of Tiana's Raw Organic Coconut Goodness).

Coconut Water is one of those things you either like or you don't...or you just put up with the taste to gain the health benefits. It can be a bit of an an acquired taste to be honest! Regardless, it's great for quenching thirst and replenishing electrolytes on a hot day, or after exercise (and much healthier than chugging a bottle of Lucozade!)

There's a lot of brands around, with Vita Coco being the most popular due to its celebrity endorsements, but personally I think it's over-hyped. So whats different about Naked coconut water? Well, I don't have Vita Coco on hand so can't compare directly, but going by the press release from Naked it's special because it's made from "the fresh liquid from young green coconuts, is naturally low in calories and a source of potassium". It contains 650mg potassium, 65mg calcium and 23mg of magnesium per 11.2oz serving.

Taste-wise I thought it was pleasant. Slightly sweet and smooth, with a refreshing aftertaste. It didn't have that somewhat "stale" flavour that some coconut waters seem to but tasted more fresh. I found it quenched my thirst nicely with a rather small amount.

Overall, this Naked coconut water is a welcome newcomer in the coconut water market, I would say it has an edge over others as it does taste fresher. I'll be interested to see how long it lasts on shelves, since everyone and their mum is launching coconut water products recently!

Rating: 8 out of 10.

Mint Daim Bar (Limited Edition) Review

$

Today's review is thanks to one of my kind readers, Vicky, who recently visited Sweden and picked up a new Limited Edition Mint Daim bar for me. We don't usually get limited edition Daim varieties in the UK (although there were briefly some Cola and Orange flavours!), but a little research reveals there's been lots of Daim limited editions in its native Sweden - Dark and White Chocolate, Forest Fruits "Summer Dream", Lemon-Lime "Cool Breeze", Cappuccino,...and even Daim Ice Cream Bars! Maybe there's no demand for all these things in the UK. What do you think, readers...would you like to see more Daim varieties on shelves?

Back to this mint flavour...inevitably, the bar has shattered in the post, which isn't surprising as it's longer than the Daim bars we get in the UK. It smelled intensely of mint, in fact it reminded me of Murray Mints and Mintoes - those butter mints that are often popular with grannies.

And that's kind of how it tasted...the filling was similar to a butterscotch flavoured Murray Mint, coated in creamy milk chocolate. I have to say it surprised me by how tasty it was, I wasn't expecting the flavours of mint and butterscotch to work together but they really did and it turned out rather moreish! The milk chocolate finished things off perfectly and brought a nice creaminess to the crunchy filling.

Overall, this is a tasty limited edition and it's such a shame we won't be getting it in the UK. Mint flavours are perfect for Christmas so I don't see why Mondelez haven't launched it here too?! Maybe in future...

Are you a fan of Daim? Would you like to see this Mint Edition in the UK? Let me know in the comments!

Nestlé Yorkie Peanut (Limited Edition!) Review

$

Nestlé UK recently announced the launch of a new limited edition Peanut Yorkie, which is exciting news since we don't often get many peanut chocolate bars here (although Peanut Lion Bars recently made a return - hurrah!). Of course many of my readers will know that peanut Yorkie isn't "new" as such, it's been around before...there's even a Facebook Page to bring it back (although isn't there a Facebook page to bring everything back these days?!)

Considering all this I think we're lucky Nestlé chose to resurrect it...it's not too often that old much loved products get a chance to shine again (case in point: Banjo Wafer Bars!)

The bar is described as "Chunky milk chocolate with peanuts (25%)" and contains 25% cocoa solids. Opening the wrapper, the first thing I noticed was the intense smell of roasted peanut. It reminded me of the mighty Snickers bar, but with an even more intense peanut aroma. It's split into 5 chunky blocks.

Cutting through the central block revealed plenty of roasted peanuts embedded within...

It will come as no surprise that peanut was the defining element of this bar. The milk chocolate itself was decent enough; sweet and milky, like most Nestlé chocolate, but nothing that stands out. The roasted nuts made the bar truly special...they were very flavoursome and moreish, making it ridiculously easy to munch through the bar all at once (though to be fair it's not that difficult, considering the new smaller size).

Overall, I wouldn't say this is as great as the legendary Snickers, but it's certainly nice to have a chunky chocolate bar containing just peanuts without added ingredients such as raisins. If you're a fan of peanut chocolate you'll definitely want to give this a try, before it disappears from shelves again!

RATING: 8 out of 10.

Price: Around 60p at Tesco.

Terry's Chocolate Orange Minis Exploding Candy - *GUEST REVIEW* by William

After much fiddling around with my own blog, I now have the time to sit down and type away at a new guest review & I'm going to attempt to get these up at least once every 10 days or so? Myself and Kev haven't arranged a schedule but I will try my hardest to get some more posts done because I've heard previously that they've been rather popular!

As it's vastly approaching Christmas, Mondelēz tend to launch more Terry's Chocolate Orange products and this year we've got quite a lot of new exciting chocolate orange products including the new Toffee Crunch orange and these - Terry's Chocolate Orange Minis with Exploding Candy.

I particularly like the mini format because I find they're so much easier to eat in public without the need to “whack and unwrap”. Recently, I've noticed that Mondelez have been reducing the size of most Cadbury products (especially the sharing bags) but with these you get quite a lot more chocolate in the bag than you would with a Cadbury sharing bag?

The mini segments seemed to be scuffed and are not visually pleasing but the scent of the chocolate makes up for that. The aroma is so gorgeous and chocolatey with a kick of orange and it makes you really want to scoff the whole bag! As the chocolate melts you are gradually greeted by quite an annoying crackle by the popping candy but the texture is okay. If you love popping candy in chocolate, I definitely recommend you try these because there is quite a fair bit in each tiny little segment which personally I'm not too keen on.

The flavour is gorgeous though - the creaminess of the chocolate and the flavour of the orange is rather pleasing but beware, these are extremely moreish!

Overall, these Terry's Chocolate Orange Minis with Exploding Candy are a great addition to the “minis” range but I would rather buy a bag of the original chocolate orange minis because they don't have any of that annoying popping you get with popping candy. What I'd like to see maybe next year is a Toffee Crunch version of these? Or maybe the return of the white chocolate Smasher? And maybe a mini version of those? I'm sure Kev would appreciate very much if the white chocolate smasher did make a return!

Anyway, if you liked this review and you'd like to see more posts from me, head over to my blog: www.moroneywilliam.blogspot.co.uk but I will hopefully be writing more guest reviews on here soon!
